Axiom is proud to announce that we are now part of the MERaLiON Consortium, Singapore’s national effort to build a culturally and linguistically inclusive Large Language Model (LLM). We were honored to attend the consortium’s official launch on 28–29 May at AT-X, where we connected with fellow innovators, academics, and public sector leaders. Thank you to all who joined us in celebrating this significant milestone.
The event was graced by Minister Josephine Teo, who delivered the opening address, and Minister of State Rahayu Mahzam (MDDI and MOH), who took part in a meaningful panel titled “Success to Significance – Leaders Building Communities.”
Minister Rahayu emphasized the importance of MERaLiON Version 2.0, stating:
“It is about capturing the nuances of our languages, our cultures, because we are aware of the danger of biases and entrenched stereotypes that can exist if we do not include diversity in our leadership and our people.”
💬 Singlish-Savvy AI for the Silver Generation
In alignment with these values, Axiom is thrilled to be contributing AI solutions designed to make a real social impact—starting with eldercare.
One such initiative is a Singlish-savvy national AI chatbot, part of a solution highlighted in The Straits Times. The chatbot:
Engages seniors in conversational local dialects and Singlish, building trust and comfort,
Checks in on their well-being in a friendly, non-intrusive manner,
Helps to detect and block scam calls, protecting vulnerable seniors from harm, and
Provides culturally-relevant companionship and reminders for daily health or safety routines.
This is a great example of how MERaLiON’s localized language capabilities can directly enhance lives—especially among communities where digital adoption may be slower or where standard English interfaces fall short.
